UVioO - Location of Cameron Highlands Cameron Highlands is a very famous range of mountains located in one of the states of Malaysia, in Pahang. It's highest peak is Gunung Brinchang with 6,666 feet. Cameron Highlands offer its visitors unbelievable holidays with ever green scenery, picturesque little towns, valleys and hills. Cameron Highlands is the Malaysia largest highlands very popular for backpackers, and even for families who are eager for some adventure and fresh fruit and vegetable. Brinchang, other town just 5 km from Tanah Rata, has not many budget hostels and guesthouses. Ringlet town almost none. But both Tanah Rata and Brinchang are pretty full of hotels if you are not on a budget. Anyway, more is happening in Tanah Rata when it comes to food and life. Brinchang is more quiet. So when coming to Cameron Highlands by bus, just say to the driver if you want to get off in Brinchang or Tanah Rata so he knows where to leave you. Things to do in Cameron Highlands:Depends on your peace, but usually a couple of days are enough to visit Cameron Highlands. Their beauty will get stuck in your heart for long time after you leave anyway, even if you just spent a couple of hours in there, or just observed it from a bus. I stayed there for 2 days and saw a lot, but would prefer to stay longer if only I had more time. Jim Thomson's trail -- in 1967 there was this Jim Thomson, a WW II militay officer who dissapeared while trekking in Cameron Highlands. You can follow his path around Cameron Highlands, just don't get lost, please :) Cactus Valley -- you can get here walking from Brinchang town which takes from 5 to 10 minutes. For 4 RM (around 1 Euro) you can see thousands of cactus plants (some of them are 60 years old), apple trees, strawberries, tomatoes, roses, gerbera, impatiens, birds of paradise, anthuriums, lilies, and even dried flowers. Butterfly Garden -- there are two next to each other. The entrance fee is 5 RM for each (just a bit more than 1 Euro). You can see everything there in about 30 minutes. Apart from the big colourful butterflies living there, you will get the chance to see bugs, chameleons, lizards, frogs, leaf sticks, grasshoppers, snakes and other weird animals living in the rainforest. They are huge and most of them almost invisible. BOH Tea Estate -- there are two in Cameron Highlands, one is hard to get to between Tanah Rata and Ringlet, the other, more famous one, is close to Brinchang. A road leads there opposite the Market Square where walking will take you around 1 hour. It is a bit hilly and curvy, but not very difficult to walk (I walked it in flip-flops). Maybe if you are lucky, a car will stop and get you there. Yeah, just like this when they see you, or you can hitchhike. But even if not, the green scenery full of tea trees is something you will never forget. To say it was one of the best things I've ever seen in my life would be an understatement. After all the stunning hills you will pass a little village of blue and green houses and an Indian temple where the farmers leave. Then on top of the road there is finally your destination. There is a restaurant with the best view ever offering different kinds of tea from the plantation, and some snacks, then a shop where you can buy tea packs and other souvenirs; photos and videos explaining you the history of BOH Tea Estate. And finally then you will get to know the process of making tea in the tea factory which consists of withering, rolling, fermentation, drying, sorting, tea tasting and packaging of tea. Both BOH Tea Estate factories in Cameron Highlands still use the same old equipment as in the 30′s when they were opened as it is the best. BOH Tea Estate has its own packaging factory and every year exports 4 million kg of tea (both domestic and international market.) BOH Tea Plantation is a must see in Cameron Highlands. Trekking to Rafflesia Site -- there is a place full of Rafflesias -- the world's biggest flower (travel agencies include this place in many tours during the Rafflesia season.) Trekking through the forest -- there are 14 trails in Cameron Highlands, just check out the map or ask in the tourist information. I did the trail from Tanah Rata to Robinson Waterfall and then trail number 9A. All the walking sometimes very harsh and slippery, was so worth it thanks to the absolutely amazing scenery of Cameron Highlands. 1046 views

‘Leaked messages shocking’

‘Leaked messages shocking’
July 29, 2014

(Rakyat Post) - The theme of these messages are to retain political power based on race and religion rather than what PKR and DAP and many supporters of PR as well as the people have been led to believe.

Lawyers for Liberties executive director Eric Paulsen has labelled the alleged leaked messages from PAS which touched on returning Malay-Muslims to power as “shocking.”

Yesterday, Malaysiakini ran a report about a leaked screenshot of a WhatsApp conversation that revealed PAS leaders were mulling the possibility of leaving the Opposition coalition.

One of the alleged messages, however, read that if DAP, the church and non-Muslims harped on religious raids, the Allah issue, they could get back at them. It also said by year end it could return the Malay-Muslim political power.

According to the Malaysiakini report, a Pas member, who did not want to be identified, confirmed that the screenshot was authentic.See more at : http://www.malaysia-today.net/leaked-messages-shocking/

UVioO - Thai Street Food - Pla Pao (ปลาเผา) at Central World, Bangkok

UVioO - Check out my Thai street food guide: http://www.eatingthaifood.com/eating-thai-food-guide/ and also my travel and street food website here http://migrationology.com/ One of the best things about visiting Bangkok is taking advantage of the incredible array of Thai street food available. It's nearly everywhere you look and it's mostly quite sanitary, affordable, and most importantly, it's incredible delicious. There's Thai street food all over Bangkok and throughout the entire country. One of the most popular shopping areas in the city is known as Pratunam, an area that's just a short distance from Siam shopping area and just a short walk from Central World mall. Everyday, thousands of pedestrians pass this little stretch next to Central World and for that reason, there's an abundance of wonderful street food available. Starting at about 5 pm each day, there are a series of full Thai street food restaurants that set up just outside of Central World shopping mall in Bangkok. The place that I ate at in the video goes by Ratchaprasong Thai Food (ราชประสงค์ ไทยฟู้ด). They specialize in mostly Isaan cuisine from the northeaster part of the country, but they also have some other stir fried Chinese style dishes as well. But when I go, I mostly go with an intent to eat a few of the items off the grill! Plan chon pao (ปลาช่อนเผา), or roasted snake head fish, is the top reason to visit these street stalls. The grills are absolutely packed with this ugly, yet tasty creatures. To prepare them Thai style, the fish is first stuffed in the mouth with lemongrass and herbs and then rolled in a thick layer of salt. The fish is then slow roasted on open charcoal as it slow cooks. The result is a flaky fish that's a gem of Thai street food. Served with a seafood sauce, called nam jim seafood, it's amazing. The fish is flaky and remains moist and flavorful from the cooking process. I also tried their grilled chicken, known as gai yang in Thai. It was indeed flavorful, but my only complaint is that it was slightly dry. However, that's just sort of the way street food may be, some pieces of chicken might be dry and others nice and moist. Lastly, now Thai meal on the street like this would be complete without a helping of green papaya salad. I asked for it spicy, and they didn't fail to load it with spicy chillies. Made with fresh ingredients, the green papaya was crisp and mixed with a tomatoes, dry shrimp, chillies, garlic, palm sugar, fish sauce, and lime juice. It was excellent. Along with the other dishes, I also enjoyed a few plates of Thai sticky rice to bring the meal together! Sitting on the side of the busy road and with countless pedestrians that walk past every minute, Ratchaprasong Thai Food (ราชประสงค์ ไทยฟู้ด) doesn't have the greatest ambiance. But it sure is convenient and the Thai street food there is quite appetizing! Hours: 5 pm - 2 am daily Prices: 100 - 200 THB per person for a full meal, the meal we ate above came to 300 THB Address: Sidewalk outside Bangkok's Central World shopping center How To Get There: Take the BTS to Chit Lom station, walk towards Ratchaprasong road and then cross the street to Central World shopping mall. Procee to walk past the mall and on your way to Pratunam, and it would be impossible to miss these Thai street food stalls. I go to the first one. Open only after 5 pm. Thank you for watching! Malaysian Street Food Tour in Kuala Lumpur

UVioO - Glad you love Malaysian street food too! Get my free street food guide here: http://migrationology.com/41-irresistible-meals-guide/ Malaysian street food is amazingly delicious and Kuala Lumpur is full of food everywhere you look! The first dish in the video is known as Nasi Campur, a truly delightful Malaysian street food that consists of a giant plate of rice accompanied by an assortment of various side dishes. I chose fish curry, chili tofu and a bunch of other delicious vegetables and garnished. Next I stopped at a famous place near Little India in Kuala Lumpur to eat an Ikan Bakar grilled fish. It was grilled in some kind of chili sauce and served with a limey chili sauce that was absolutely spectacular. When it began to rain, I decided to drink a cup of milk tea teh tarik, one of the most famous beverages in Malaysia. The next meal was at Hameed's a restaurant specializing in Indian style Malaysian street food known as Nasi Kandar. Along with a plate of rice covered in curries, I aslo ordered a plate of biryani, and a side of tandoori chicken and plan naan. I couldn't leave Kuala Lumpur without eating the absolute mos comforting Malaysian street food: Nasi Lemak. After searching around, I finally found it at an outdoors restaurant. It wasn't the best nasi lemak I've ever had, but it sure wasn't bad! Hope you enjoyed this Malaysian street food tour in Kuala Lumpur! 2399 views

10 reasons why PAS wants Khalid

10 reasons why PAS wants Khalid
Roslan Bistamam

| July 28, 2014
Here are ten reasons why PAS thinks Khalid is the preferred leader for the post of Selangor Menteri Besar.

Why complicate a simple situation? As far as PAS sees it, the reasons are crystal clear as to why Khalid Ibrahim should remain as Selangor’s Menteri Besar.

1. Some Muslims cannot accept a woman such as Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as an imam. In fact, some even consider it haram. The Amina Wadud controversy in the US is a good example as it almost triggered a riot. Imam in this context means leader, not just the person leading a congregation in prayer. In regards to Imam (or Ayatollah) Khomeini, he was an imam of a nation, not an imam of prayers.

2. PAS is also worried that if Dr Wan Azizah takes over, it will not be she who will be running the state but those behind her. Dr Wan Azizah has never demonstrated any management skills. This is true from the time she was helming the party in 1999. It was always the number two who ran things hence should she be Menteri Besar, it will be number two who will be running Selangor as well.

3. Some PAS leaders, if not most, consider Anwar Ibrahim guilty of the charge of sodomy. For the sake of Pakatan Rakyat’s solidarity they will not say so openly but privately they will make this view known. Hence they will not support any plan of Anwar’s.

4. Most PAS people are royalists – they consider the Sultan the head of Islam, akin to a Caliph. Hence they will never defy him as doing so will mean they are defying the Head of Islam. PAS knows the Sultan wants Khalid to remain as Menteri Besar and as such, they will support the Sultan’s choice.See more at http://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/category/highlight/2014/07/28/10-reasons-why-pas-wants-khalid/

IT'S EITHER HADI OR PAKATAN

IT'S EITHER HADI OR PAKATAN: D-day looms for PAS as Khalid tussle throws up critical fissures

Here is a silver lining to that dark, brooding cloud called the Khalid Ibrahim leadership crisis in Selangor: it is forcing the professionals and moderates in Parti Se-Islam Malaysia (PAS) to face one question they have been studiously avoiding since GE13.

What would happen to their political futures if Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang were to get his way and steers PAS away from Pakatan Rakyat (PR) and back onto the narrow road of conservatism and religious and racial chauvinism?

The short answer: as many as nine parliamentary seats in Selangor, Kedah, Perak and Pahang won by PAS candidates in GE13 will be lost in the next general elections.

UVioO - Kota Kinabalu National Park covers a vast expanse, 754 sqkm. of pristine rainforest and the 4,095m tall Mt. Kinabalu which is the highest mountain for a thousand miles. Many people come to the park to climb the relatively easy mountain that has fantastic views of the Philippines on a clear day. Our mission was to enjoy the dipterocarp rainforest trails on the mountains slopes and find nice views of the mountain from below. 90664 views

Cameron Highlands, Malaysia

The Cameron Highlands are located in the far north west of the state of Pahang, just over 200 kilometers - or 3 hours drive - north from Kuala Lumpur. This cool mountainous region -- the highest on the Malaysian mainland - rises to 1500 metres above sea level, making it a popular escape for international travelers and locals alike.

Named after William Cameron, a Scottish surveyor who came across the plateau in the late 1800's, by the 1930's the areas rolling mountains and lush valleys had become a haven for colonial-era Brits seeking respite from the lowland heat.

With the British came tea, and the Highlands quickly became one of the worlds great centres of tea production, an enterprise which transformed more of the landscape into a verdant tapestry of manicured plantations that rise and fall with the sometimes impossibly steep terrain.

Yet despite the Highland's continued importance as an agricultural centre, great tracts of jungle and forest remain, giving the region a wild and untamed quality.

Stunning Colonial architecture, décor, and garden design, lovingly preserved by a new generation of inn keepers and restaurateurs, makes the region an ideal destination for romantic getaways.

Each morning as the mountain mists clear, visitors can explore the Highland's many attractions: from it's picturesque townships, historic plantations, and incense shrouded temples; to the many waterfalls and forest walks alive with butterflies, orchids and bird song.

A Malaysian paradise amid the clouds, the Cameron Highlands is truly one of Asia's scenic wonders. 103608 views
